Role Overview
The Commercial Manager will lead Duapa Agri’s full-spectrum commercial strategy — from export sales of raw commodities, to domestic and regional distribution of processed products, to strategic partnerships, market expansion, and product innovation. This role is central to driving revenue, enhancing brand visibility, and unlocking new opportunities for growth.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Revenue Growth
- Lead and manage all international export sales of raw cashew nuts, shea nuts, and soybeans
- Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for finished goods in Ghana, Africa, and global markets
- Drive B2B and B2C sales channels; establish and grow relationships with wholesalers, distributors, supermarkets, and bulk buyers
- Set and review pricing strategies in alignment with procurement and cost structures
Marketing & Brand Development
- Oversee branding, packaging, and promotion of finished goods
- Lead execution of marketing campaigns — digital, in-store, and trade events
- Collaborate with creative and media partners to position Duapa Agri as a trusted African agri-brand
Agro-Input Sales & Distribution
- Manage the sales and distribution of agro-inputs (seeds, fertilizers, bio-inputs) to smallholder farmers and cooperatives.
- Build and oversee dealer networks and rural distribution channels.
- Align seasonal demand with product availability and promotional campaigns.
Customer Experience & CRM
- Develop and maintain a robust Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
- Track customer orders, feedback, satisfaction, and re-engagement strategies
- Establish a responsive sales support and account management function
Market Expansion & Intelligence
- Conduct market research to identify new demand trends, pricing opportunities, and competitor activity
- Expand presence into new countries and market segments
- Identify niche markets for organic, ethical, or certified products (e.g., HACCP, EU Organic)
Product Innovation & R&D
- Collaborate with processing and packaging teams to explore new product development
- Lead trials, consumer testing, and business cases for new SKUs or product lines
- Explore functional food, cosmetic, and industrial applications for agri by-products
Strategic Partnerships & Business Development
- Build partnerships with Processors, Retailers, Distributors, and Export Buyers
- Forge alliances with e-commerce platforms, restaurant chains, wellness brands, and institutional buyers
- Seek co-branding, licensing, or joint venture opportunities to scale market access
Commercial Planning & Reporting
- Set monthly/quarterly/annual sales and business development targets
- Monitor KPIs including volume sold, revenue, margins, market share, and customer retention
- Report performance regularly to the Managing Director and collaborate on strategic pivots
Export Documentation
- Prepare, review, and manage all export-related documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, phytosanitary certificates, and letters of commitment.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, inspection agencies, regulatory bodies, and buyers to ensure compliance with export regulations and timely dispatch.
- Maintain organized records of all export transactions and documentation for audits, traceability, and regulatory reporting.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Agribusiness, International Trade or related fields (MBA preferred although not mandatory)
- Minimum 5+ years experience in Commercial Operations, Import/Export Operations , or FMCG Sales preferably in Agro-Commodities or Agri-Food sectors
- Proven success in Export Sales, B2B/B2C Distribution, and Market Entry Strategy
- Strong understanding of African markets, trade regulations, and consumer behaviour
- Experience with CRM tools, trade fairs, and retail or e-commerce channel management
- Fluent in English (French is a strong plus but not mandatory)
